LUCKY PUNCH LOTO, SAID TAGHMAOUI AND MASTER YODTONG

By Serge TREFEU

Famous Hollywood actor Saïd Taghmaoui, a Franco-Moroccan boxing enthusiast and close friend of numerous champions, experienced an extraordinary stroke of luck in Chicago, the kind that only comes once in a lifetime a true “Lucky Punch,” the providential blow that ends a fight by knockout.
In the middle of filming, he purchased several lottery tickets for Chicago’s famous Powerball, which he then gave to his crew members. One of them won the $1 million jackpot, which, thanks to the Power Play option, was tripled. According to the organizers, the odds of winning such a prize are one in 11.7 million!

This incredible story echoes that of Master Yodtong Sesanan, one of Thailand’s greatest coaches, the trainer of legendary champions such as Samart Payakaroon (Muay Thai world champion and WBC boxing champion), nicknamed the “Muhammad Ali” and “Sugar Ray Robinson” of Muay Thai. In 2005, Master Yodtong himself won the national lottery twice, pocketing a whopping 56 million baht (approximately €1.46 million) all of which he chose to redistribute to local charities.

Like this great Thai master, the generous Saïd Taghmaoui decided to donate almost the entire sum « $3 million » to humanitarian organizations, including one working to help the Palestinian population!
