INTERVIEW OF ANISSA MEKSEN

By Serge TREFEU (2016)

SERGE TREFEU: Hello Anissa, how are you?

ANISSA MEKSEN: Very well thank you

You grew in which place of France?

I grew in Nancy in Lorraine

Towards what age you began the boxing?

I began the boxing at the age of 12 having tested the judo and the karate during five years

How you discovered this sport and what attracted you towards the boxing?

My brother Mehdi who practiced boxing. He told me a day to come to try and since I have never arrested…

You felt at ease quickly very on the boxing ring in Thai boxing, pass from the Savate to Muay Thai (Anissa was World champion of French Boxing Savate) is not an easy thing, it’s not given to everybody, how you made to adapt yourself so quickly to this discipline?

There is no secret. It’s the fruit of a lot of work. When I want something I really give myself to 200 %. My objective was to be successful in Kick boxing, K1 and Muay Thai. For it we travelled in Thailand to learn. We belonged in the camp of Dédé (Adam Ausa) to the Max Sport Gym in Bangkok, but also in gyms of the Paris region, as that of Kamel Jemel (World champion of Thai boxing)

You changed gym for your trainings in Muay Thai? Today, you train in what gym and with which trainer?

I train for three years now for the OGB, Olympique Garennois Boxe. Benoit is at the same time my trainer and my manager. He puts a lot to make us more successful. Guillaume Pascal (France Champion Thai boxing) is one of my partners of trainings. He’s on a good dynamics and it thanks to the teamwork and obviously of Benoit, which prepares us at best according to the terms

During your first fights in Muay Thai, how was your sensations on the boxing ring because the movements, the techniques (Projection, clinch, poke) are good different from the Savate?

I dreaded a lot because my first experiences were made in Thailand, thus without elbow pads. My first purpose was to neutralize the clinch, to make of the anti clinch not to take bad knocks…

And over time the clinch became a real pleasure, as well as the projections and the pokes

You knew the champions in Muay Thai before beginning this sport?

Not clearly I did not know any. Today, it’s true that athletes as Saenchai or still as our French Pinca are athletes whom I respect a lot

Lucia Rijker, Germaine de Randamie, Ilonka Elmont, Julie Kitchen, Nancy Joseph, these names tells you anything?

Yes of course. It’s athletes who marked the spirits in their time!

In what year you went the first time in Thailand? You were to train in a camp? You can tell us your first anecdotes in Thailand, training, sensation and discovery of the country?

My first experience it belonged for holidays to Koh Samui. We tested a camp on the spot, the Pinyo Muay Thai and from there we signed a first fight a few days later. It was not a high-level fight but for a first experience in Muay Thai it was normal. From there, we saw a little bigger things and with my trainer we left two months for Thailand in the camp of Max Sport Gym, at Dédé. It’s him who believed at first in me and who signed me my first world championship for the Queen’s Birthday, whom I took away. It was in 2013, and it’s from there that finally everything began…

The hardest are probably the ones that I realized during the show ” Enfusion ” because I had three fights in the same event, physically and morally was testing…

Your best memory of boxing?

Probably my victory in the tournament Enfusion, the tournament in 18 where I made four fights, four victories with three KO, of which Iman Barlow!

And the worst?

Kunlun Fight last October. Where I took the blows heads repeatedly, what was worth to me a beautiful wound in the nose, and a stealing for the match…

You took away several titles in Muay Thai, what is the title of which you are the most proud?

I took away two European titles, WFC and WBC, and three world titles, S1, WPMF and WBC. The one of which I’m the most proud it’s probably my world champion’s last title WBC obtained last month against German Myriem Uslu (World champion of Thai boxing)!

Not of opponents in particular

The strongest are Iman Barlow, Ashley Nichols, Myriem Uslu, Evra Naranjo …

Of that think you of feminine Muay Thai in France? Today, for you what is what there are enough events with fighting women?

No, there is not enough. We don’t speak enough French women champions. It’s the world which remains male. But that begins slowly to change…

You also excel at various disciplines feet and fists as the kick boxing and the K1, the Boxing it also attracts you?

No, I’m certainly going to turn to another discipline but probably not Boxing

You have a status of high-level sportswoman or you have to work in parallel of your professional career in boxing?

There is no high-level status in these disciplines. Today, the boxing is my job

What council you would give to a girl who starts the boxing and who wants to make a professional career?

If she wants to undertake a professional career, she should give itself the ways for. Even if she is successful, it’s necessary that she’s enjoy the company of others. And it, without a good trainer and a manager, it’s complicated…

Anissa Meksen is at present N°1 any category confused in boxing feet and fists, this virtuoso of boxing rings made the space in her category, today the fighters don’t crowd to face him. She has a complete, very technical style, a foolproof determination, and fast and powerful sequences which often disrupt his opponents. On the boxing ring she’s transformed into real destructive machine, we could compare her with the formidable Dutch of the 90s Lucia Rijker “The Dutch Destroyer”. Now it’s “The French Destroyer” who is going to make history of feet and fists. This great champion who has another beautiful career in front of her, has already taken away everything the titles and beaten the best champions of his category such as Funda Diken (TKO), Yolande Alonso, Phet Yodying (KO), Myriem Uslu, Iman Barlow (KO), Ashley Nichols, Evra Naranjo, Donatella Panu, Feride Kirat (KO), Isis Verbeek, Soraya Bucherie, Padua Clarissa (KO), Khampetch Monoprangroj!
