SIT JAEDAENG GYM

An old-fashioned camp, nestled in the heart of the Northern Thai countryside!
Special report by Serge TRÉFEU (2026)

Sit Jaedaeng Gym has been around for about thirty years. Its basic infrastructure nonetheless provides boxers with an intensive and optimal training environment. It’s a far cry from the large, modern complexes of Chiang Mai.

This small camp is located 30 km from the metropolis, in the village of Huai Sai, in the San Kamphaeng district. The area boasts a rare feature in the provinces: four boxing camps located just a few hundred meters apart. The nak muay (Muay Thai fighters) thus regularly cross paths during their daily runs on the country trails.

The camp has modest infrastructure, but it is fully adapted to the young warriors of northern Thailand

Sit Jaedaeng Gym belongs to Mr. Wittaya Surin, a true Muay Thai enthusiast. He initially founded two camps, Sit Jaedaeng Gym and Kiat Wit Surin Gym, in the village of Sob Moei, located in Mae Hong Son province near the Burmese border. With his wife, he trained young children from local tribes there, offering them new opportunities through boxing.

Now deputy mayor of his hometown, Huai Sai, Mr. Wittaya Surin has brought together the boxers from his early days. This new camp is a synthesis of his first two organizations, born from a desire to perpetuate his social and sporting commitment.

Mr. Wittaya Surin, deputy to Mayor Mr. Chakrit Thisa, sits on the Huai Sai sports development group, in partnership with the Sports Authority of Thailand

The camp has produced good boxers, such as Pinpetch Sit Jaedaeng, former WMC and IPCC world champion, and winner of the S-Cup tournament, who is now a member of the famous Banchamek camp alongside star Buakaw.

Today, the Sit Jaedaeng Gym brings together a dozen boxers aged 10 to 22, several of whom compete at the highest level in Bangkok’s major stadiums. With numerous provincial titles to its credit, it is now among the most renowned camps in the Chiang Mai region.

The camp’s fighters also excel in amateur boxing at national games (notably the Chanthaburi Games), where they have won several gold and silver medals.

Among the camp’s rising stars are Phetmaesuat Nayok Ek Huai Sai, the young local star who recently won the Northern Region championship title in the 118 lbs (-53.5 kg) weight class; Petchseethong Sit Jaedaeng, a multi-title provincial champion who regularly fights at Rajadamnern Stadium and in the ring at TV7 Stadium; and Phetseefah, Detphet, Petchdaorung, and Petchpayak, who frequently appear at major events at TV7 Stadium.

As for Petchtree Sit Jaedaeng, he has become a formidable fighter in Bangkok, making a remarkable debut at the ONE Championship in August 2026 with a brilliant victory.

All these boxers compete under the Kietpetch promotion banner, led by Mr. Chun Kietpetch (TV7’s number one promoter), a longtime friend of the camp’s founder. Several of them have already had the honor of being selected for the prestigious Tiger Cement tournament, which brings together the elite of Thai Muay Thai every year.

In 2023, the Sit Jaedaeng Gym was officially licensed by the SAT (Sports Authority of Thailand). This recognition is well-deserved for this provincial team of passionate individuals with exemplary discipline.
