« THE IRON FIST » SAMRANSAK MUANGSURIN

Samransak of its real name Ran Kijram was born June 18th, 1959 in the region of the northeast of the Thailand which produced champions’ largest number of boxing, Buriram!
Samransak is considered by many specialists as one of the biggest puncheurs of the story of Muay Thai. His fighter’s nickname was “Ay Matsaklek” (The iron fist) because he had a phenomenal power in fists!
It was also the great ” Muay Tone ” (Durable boxer) who always made terrible fights in front of numerous opponents that he faced!
Samransak represented honorably for years his camp, famous Muangsurin Gym. A camp which was situated in the district of Laksi in Bangkok. The Muangsurin camp was based by Khru Amornrat Rakwanich who died in 1981, it’s his son Mr Apirak Rakvanich which then became the owner of camp…
This famous camp was considered as the work of fists because it produced great champions in Boxing such as legendary Saensak Muangsurin who is World champion WBC in 25 years old after only three professional fights, as well as Prayonsak Muangsurin (World champion OPBF), Tongta Kietwayupha and Jong Satiyengym!
Muangsurin Gym also formed excellent champions of Muay Thai as Srinarong Muangsurin, Raktae Muangsurin (Radja champion), Samsak Muangsurin, Den Muangsurin (Lumpinee Champion, World champion), Jonrob Muangsurin, Khaosot Muangsurin, Saensucknoi and his brother the puncheur Chainoi Muangsurin!
Many champions of the other camps came to perfect in Boxing in this camp, the immense champions Coban « The Cruncher » Lookchaomaesaitong and Wangchannoi « Wonderman » Sor Palangchai trained for a long time for Muangsurin Gym!
Samransak Muangsurin made a remarkable career, until 33 years, he faced every best fighters of his category, great champions such as Kongtoranee Payakaroon, Samart Payakaroon, Sonsin Sitneunpayom, Saencheung Pinsinchai, Yoknoi Fairtex, Jomwo Chienggym, Mafeuang Weerapon, Panrit Luksirat, Chanchai Sor Tamrangsi, Chamophet Haphalang, Sanit Wichitkrengkrai, Saengsakda Kitikasem, Panomtuanlek Haphalang, Jaroenthong Kietbanchong, Coban Lookchaomaesaitong, Cherry Sor Waniche, Wangchannoi Sor Palangchai, Sakmongkol Sitchuchok, Samrantong Kietbanchong !
Samransak made approximately 120 fights for 90 victories of which about fifty gained by KO!
In 1981, on February 21st, in the stadium of Radja, a fight shock goes opposite both strong men of the moment who are Samransak, 22 years, and Kongtoranee Payakaroon, 21 years old, nicknamed “Aynou Mahasadjan” (The wonder boy). Kongtoranee is then already holder of several belts of Lumpinee but Samransak is going to beat in points the bull Kongtoranee!
The revenge between both strikers takes place on October 13th, in Lumpinee, and Samransak beats again in points Kongtoranee!
April 28th, 1982, exceptional event of Muay Thai is organized during the birthday of the bicentenary of Rattanakosin, the dynasty of Kings Chakri (Rama) which is the at present ruling dynasty in Thailand. The dynasty Chakri has took the succession of Kings of Ayutthaya.
A delegation of Japanese champions was thus invited to do battle it to face a Thai team. Eight world champion WFMA’s belts are stake during this prestigious event which takes place in the stadium of Ratchadamoen full to bursting with 10 000 spectators!
Seven of the titles will be won by the Thai champions, the eighth belt will be gained by Japanese which will meet a champion of South Korea.
Nongkhai Sor Prapasorn will take away the title in 130 lbs, Dieselnoi Chor Thanasurakarn that in 135 lbs, Khaopong Sittuchai in 147 lbs, David O Sot in 153 lbs, two other Thai champions took the title in 140 lbs and in 160 lbs. And finally, Samransak Muangsurin pockets the title in 122 lbs in front of Japanese Masayuki Yamamoto to beat him by KO in the second round!
SAMRANSAK WORLD CHAMPION WFMA!
Two years after his victories over Kongtoranee, the superstar Samart Payakaroon, the little brother of Kongtoranee, will avenge his older brother, by beating Samransak in points, 15 April 1983, to the stadium of Lumpinee!
The same year, Samransak is going to face Sonsin Sitneunpayom, on July 12th, in Lumpinee, and he’s going to beat the champion Sonsin. They find themselves again in Lumpinee, on October 4th, and Samransak still beats him in points. Sonsin takes his revenge in 1984, on September 28th, in the stadium of Lumpinee where he wins at points. But, on November 9th, in Lumpinee, Samransak beats again in points Sonsin!
In 1983, Samransak is going to make also his first fight abroad, in the United States, in Los Angeles, where he’s going to beat by KO the American Nelson Placentia!
In 1985, Samransak gains of beautiful victory by KO, he beats Nikom Phetpothong and Maewnoi Sitchang in the third round, and the big champions Saencheung Pinsinchai and Chanchai Sor Tamrangsi, Saencheung in the second round and Chanchai in the first round!

Samransak also gains a great match by points against Yoknoi Fairtex!
But loses fights on points against champions likes Jomwo Chienggym, June 18, in Lumpinee, Chamophet Haphalang, September 3, in Lumpinee and Sanit Wichitkrengkrai, December 6, in Lumpinee!

On May 6th, 1986, Samransak meets powerful Saengsakda Kitikasem who is going to put him KO in the 2nd round, it’s one of the rare defeats of Samransak by KO!
On June 13th, in Lumpinee, Samransak and Saengsakda makes the fight revenge with more the belt of Lumpinee in 126 lbs be at stake wich held by Saengsakda. Both champions make a match of madness which will be elected ” Best fight of year 1986 “. In this duel of Titan, Samransak is going to gain by KO at the fifth round and to take away the belt of Lumpinee in 126 lbs!
On September 9th, in Lumpinee, they find themselves for the third confrontation. In the first round, the puncheur Samransak takes down a lightning right which puts KO Saengsakda!

At the end of the year, on December 19th, in Indoor Stadium Huamark of Bangkok, Samransak is going to be defeated in points in front of Saencheung Pinsinchai for world champion’s belt in 126 lbs…
Year 1987 is loaded for “Ay Matsaklek”, on February 6th, in Lumpinee, he makes a terrible fight against Yoknoi Fairtex. Samransak is counted in the third round and finished the round with difficulty. But in the fourth round Samransak successful to put KO Yoknoi!
SAMRANSAK AGAINST YOKNOI, BATTLE OF TITAN BETWEEN TWO CHAMPIONS OF LUMPINEE!
SAMRANSAK AFTER HIS VICTORY BY KO ON YOKNOI FAIRTEX!
On March 6th, in Lumpinee, he loses in points against the technician Panomtuanlek Haphalang. Both men are again in confrontation with Lumpinee, on May 19th, and Panomtuanlek Haphalang beats again Samransak in points!
On July 31st, in Lumpinee, Samransak met up the multiple champion Chamophet Haphalang, Chamophet gains again the fight at points but will finish the fight very tired, the
Samransak is also going to lose in points, on September 22nd, in Lumpinee, against Bandone Sit Bangpradjan…
One month later, on October 27th, in Lumpinee, Samransak beats in points Payboun Fairtex. Then, on December 8th, in Lumpinee, Samransak faces the champion Sanit Wichitkrengkrai. For this big fight, a 800 000-baht dumpan is at stake. But in the end, the match will end by a draw…
The revenge takes place, on December 29th, in Lumpinee, and Samransak is going to beat in points Sanit!

In 1988, February 2, at Lumpinee Samransak beats points Tuanthong Loukdecha!
In April, Samransak flies away in Japan to go faced his compatriot Phetdam Loukborai, on April 2nd, he’s going to lose in points in front of champion of the Lumpineee…
After his defeat in Japan, Samransak meets Chanchai Sor Tamrangsi, on April 29th, in Lumpinee. Chanchai is the titleholder of the Lumpinee in 126 lbs. Samransak is going to defeat the technician Chanchai and swiped him his belt of Lumpinee, Samransak takes away again a belt of Lumpinee in 126 lbs!
SAMRANSAK VS CHANCHAI!

On May 26th, he meets again the star Samart Payakaroon in Lumpinee, Samransak loses the match in points. On June 24th, he still faces Samart Payakaroon in Lumpinee and Samransak is again defeated in front of Lord of boxing rings. In four confrontations, Samransak was never able to beat Samart Payakaroon…
SAMRANSAK VS SAMART!
On July 18th, in the stadium of Radja, he beats in points Punsawat Wor Singhsanae. And in Lumpinee, on August 30th, for the return match, he beats Punsawat by KO in the third round!
October 11th, in Lumpinee, the young Jaroenthong Kietbanchong, who is 20 years old, challenge Samransak then 29-year-old. It’s Samransak who takes away this shock of generation!
But for the revenge, in Lumpinee, on November 25th, Samransak loses his belt of Lumpinee in 126 lbs in front of young wolf Jaroenthong…
SAMRANSAK VS JAROENTHONG!
For year 1989, Samransak is going to beat robust Dokmaipah Por Pongsawan and made a titanic battle against the star Wangchannoi Sor Palangchai. In this fight, Wangchannoi will finish the match on the brink of KO but will be declared victorious in points…
This year there Samransak will face so twice the great champion Cherry Sor Waniche, Cherry will beat in points Samransak and they will make a draw!

On October 12th, in Lumpinee, he’s also a draw with his old rival the great champion Kongtoranee Payakaroon!
Both legends find themselves for the last fight, on November 9th, 1990, in Lumpinee, and this time, it’s Kongtoranee who prevails in points!
A GREAT RESPECT IS INSTALLED BETWEEN TWO CHAMPIONS SAMRANSAK AND KONGTORANEE AFTER THEIR CLASHES!
On August 31st, 1990, in Lumpinee, Samransak also makes a beautiful fight against Yodvittaya Sithyodthong whom he beats by KO in the second round!
In 1991, May 31 at Lumpinee, Samransak in 32 years meets one of the biggest strikers of the story of Muay Thai, Coban Lookchaomaesaitong, which is 24 years old is at the top of his glory. Coban has just beaten by KO in the first round, the Dutch terror Ramon Dekkers, a month ago in France. Coban is going to taste the punch of the ” Iron fist “by go down in the third round. But then, in this third round Coban is going to touch hard Samransak with a right hook, counted, Samransak go back in combat but Coban send him a terrible high kick, and Samransak is counted again, the old lion resist, Coban jump on his prey and he strike him a series in fists, Samransak is standing KO, the referee stops wisely the fight. For the revenge, “The Cruncher” is going to beat again “Aymatsalek” but this time by KO in the second round!
But on August 24th, in Lumpinee, Samransak is going to show that he’s always present by putting KO in the second round rising young star Sakmongkol Sitchuchok which has just had 18 years!

On April 7th, 1992, in Lumpinee, in 33 years, in a big event organized by the promoter N°1 of moment, Songchai Ratanasuban, Samransak makes his farewell fight against formidable Samranthong Kietbanchong, younger brother of Jaroenthong. Samransak is going to bring down Samranthong in the second round!
