KRATAE R-SIAM, THE THAI “BEYONCÉ,” STAR AND TIGRESS OF THE RINGS, BOXER, SINGER, TOP MODEL!
by Serge TREFEU (2026)
The life of the incredible Kratae R-Siam, a woman of many talents who excels in sports, dance, singing, and acting, began in a small village in northern Thailand.
She was born Nipaporn Paeng-uan on August 25, 1987, in the village of Hang Chat, located in Lampang province, about 100 kilometers from the major city of Chiang Mai.
One of four children, three girls and one boy, she is the second oldest. She shares a very close bond with her younger sister, who would also become famous as Kratae R-Siam. The two sisters followed very similar paths during their childhood and adolescence. They both earned bachelor’s degrees from the Faculty of Architecture at Sripatum University.
Born into a family of musicians, Kratae was immersed in the arts from a very young age. His parents, themselves singers, introduced him to singing at a very young age. Despite this cultural richness, the Paeng-uan family lived in modest circumstances and experienced significant financial hardship. This simple yet difficult childhood forged in Kratae an extraordinary determination, which would become one of the cornerstones of his unbelievable journey.
As a child, Kratae had a tomboyish temperament, largely influenced by her close relationship with her father, a Muay Thai enthusiast. She often accompanied him to fights, which is how she developed a real passion for boxing at a very young age.
She was also interested in other traditionally masculine activities. She particularly enjoyed sepak takraw, a spectacular sport combining acrobatics and precision, similar to volleyball played with the feet.
She also played soccer and was passionate about cockfighting, a tradition still deeply rooted in some rural areas of Thailand.
Kratae started boxing very young. At just 12 years old, she had her first fight, in rudimentary conditions. Her family couldn’t afford to buy her proper Muay Thai shorts, so she entered the ring wearing an old pair of soccer shorts. That day, she was simply accompanying her father to a gala, but lacking available female boxers, he decided to register her at the last minute.
The result was unexpected, she won by knockout in the second round.
Not yet mastering punching techniques, she only threw kicks, instinctive but devastatingly effective. For this first victory, she earned 300 baht, a modest sum, but symbolically immense for the young girl.
After the fight, Kratae and her father tried to keep it a secret from her mother. But the news spread quickly through the village, and a neighbor eventually revealed everything. Despite her mother’s reprimands, Kratae continued to box in secret, driven by a passion already stronger than her fear. Over time, she enriched her boxing. Knee strikes were added to her kicks, and then she began a more structured training in Muay Thai.
When his training became more serious, his father built a small, makeshift training camp equipped with two punching bags. He named it Sakbunma, in homage to the camp’s coaches, Sak and Bunma.
It was under this name that Kratae fought his first matches, competing under the identity of “Namwan Noi Sakbunma”, a nickname laden with emotion, since Namwan (fresh water) was his mother’s nickname.
This determined fighter continues her rise in the world of boxing and now competes under the name “Namwan Noi Sor Arsiam”.

She participates in numerous fights, gradually revealing a talent superior to that of other female fighters. Kratae’s fighting style is distinguished by skillful and tactical boxing, utilizing both left and right kicks. She excels particularly in right kicks, while also possessing a fast and powerful left front kick. In her first thirty fights, Namwan Noi remains undefeated and maintains exceptional form. She thus becomes the Northern Region Champion.

Alongside her boxing career, she possessed another gift, singing, which she frequently practiced with her sister at country fairs.

Kratae didn’t have an ordinary childhood, as after school, she had to go to boxing training camp every day. She traveled to fight and sing to earn money and support her family; she had been singing since the age of five.
This demanding life made her strong, both physically and mentally.
She dreamed of becoming a great singer, and that dream finally came true. Determined, she never gave up. The road was long and often exhausting, but the results were worth it.
Her uncle owned an electronic music group, which she joined as a singer and dancer to help her parents and earn some money.
Before each fight, during her Ram Muay ritual, she would apply pink lipstick while singing a song, a ritual that earned her the nickname “Nakrong Nakmuay Ying” (the Singer-Boxer).

When her talent was discovered, she was often asked to sing after her fights. She would even sometimes sing before immediately returning to the ring, a sequence that attracted the attention of the ever-growing crowds eager to watch her fights.
Whenever she had the opportunity, her father took her to participate in singing competitions. She won first prize in a country music competition for young people in Bangkok, at the Thai-Japanese Youth Center.
Following this victory, and thanks to her unique personality, she was invited to appear on television under the nickname “the Singer-Boxer.”
In the north of the country, everyone was talking about this new female boxer with her unique look, pretty, dressed in pink, singing before and after her fights, and very different from the other fighters.
After her television appearance, the executives of the R-Siam music label took an interest in her and contacted her.

Kratae embarked on a career in Luk Thung music, a traditional Thai genre. Before becoming the star Kratae R-Siam, she was part of a group called Luk Thung Fourteen. She later gained widespread recognition as a solo artist, and her singing talents earned her numerous awards, including a finalist prize (Royal Trophy) awarded by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at a Thai Luk Thung competition.
In 2002, she won a points victory against champion Fahsang Sor Pranprai at a competition held in Chachoengsao province, becoming the Thai champion in the -45 kg category at just 15 years old. On December 26, 2003, she faced Hisae Watanabe again for the title but lost on points.

In 2003, she released her first album with three friends under the name Fourteen, titled Yim Laew Ruay (“Smile and Grow Rich”).
On this album, she notably performed the song Mai Dai Tang Jai Dam (“I Didn’t Intend to Have Dark Skin”), whose lyrics, “Dark like my mother, she made me dark,” refer to her mother’s skin color. This song brought her increasing public recognition, and she began to be nicknamed “Kratae Fourteen.”
Subsequently, her promoter arranged three boxing matches for her in Japan, all of which she won on points. During her stay, her song “Mai Dai Tang Jai Dam” also contributed to increasing her recognition among the Japanese public.
However, despite the release of this first album, her fame remained limited. Her income remained modest, and she had to finance her own promotion, frequently traveling back and forth between Bangkok and Lampang, sometimes even sleeping in gas stations.
She then decided to put her career on hold to focus on her studies until she obtained her high school diploma. During this period, she performed infrequently, continued boxing, and concentrated primarily on her education.

On June 11, 2004, at The Mall Ngamwongwan, she faced champion Ayumi Ingram Gym and won on points. Kratae then traveled to Tokyo, Japan, where she fought local champion Oshima Shimaki and also won on points.
Approximately two months later, on August 11, 2004, she fought at Sanam Luang in Bangkok, where she faced another formidable Japanese opponent, Maiko Hasuyama, whom she again defeated on points.
In 2007, Kratae released her first solo album under the R-Siam label, which introduced her to the public as the “singer-boxer.” Her hit single, “Open Heart of a Girl,” which celebrates being a boxer without being cruel, became a huge success thanks to its modern adaptation of folk songs from northern Thailand.

She then went on to secure numerous singing contracts. Faced with the increasing difficulty of finding opportunities for a female Muay Thai fighter and lower earnings than men, Kratae finally decided to retire from the sport and give up boxing for good.
Her boxing record stands at 48 professional fights, with 46 wins and only 2 losses!
Kratae R-Siam became a true singing star in Thailand. She released hit after hit, appeared in films, acted in plays, and established herself as a highly sought-after model.
Over the years, she transformed into a bold and sexy woman, displaying striking beauty and maturity after undergoing several cosmetic surgeries.

From her hit “Open Heart of a Girl,” which propelled her to national stardom thanks to her still-innocent image, to the album “Love You, Chug Chug,” where sensuality was gradually expressed through her outfits and choreography, Kratae constantly pushed the boundaries of her artistic image.
Her subsequent albums surprised her fans even more, cementing her status as a true sex symbol. Numerous celebrity magazines chose her for their covers, and her unapologetic sex appeal caused a sensation in the entertainment world. A new sex symbol was born.
This is the story of this little boxer who, starting from nothing, became extremely wealthy and one of the most famous women in Thailand.
Several directors are already interested in her extraordinary journey, with the ambition of adapting the life of this phenomenal star for the screen!
