Serge TREFEU: Hello Jomhod, and thank you for grant me this interview, how are you?

JOMHOD KIATADISAK: Hello, well, I am good shape!

How old are you?

I am 43 years old 

What is that you are married?

Yes I got married twice, the first time it was with a Finn and today I am married with a Thai…

You have children?

I have three children, two boys and a girl, my biggest boy who is 17 years old lives in Finland…

THE KIATADISAK FAMILY!

You come of what region of the Thailand?

I am of the region of Phang Nga in the South of the Thailand, it’s not far from Phuket…

What is what you have brothers and sisters?

Yes I arise from a big family of eight children, we were four boys and four girls and I am the youngest of the family!

Your brothers fought?

Yes only one of my older brothers fought…

You were a brawler when you were a child?

I just fought at the school with friends, was not it big fights…

You began the boxing at which age?

At about 7 years

In what age you have make your first fight?

I have make my first fight in 11 years in Phuket where I gained 200 bahts!

How you discovered the boxing?

It’s my older brother who introduced me to the boxing, it was a fighter…

You began Muay Thai in which camp?

In a camp which was called Kiatadisak in the South of the country

You fought a lot for camp?

I had to make approximately 70 fights in the region of Phuket

Towards what age you were in Bangkok? 

Towards the age of 17 years I left to Bangkok to the camp Detrat where I stayed five years in camp, I have make other camps also, as Muaythai Plaza on 2004…

In what category you fought?

I began in 60 kg, then 63 kg and 67 kg, then I have make almost all my career in 70 kg

You fought a lot in the stadiums of Bangkok?

I have make approximately 50 fights in the stadiums of Bangkok!

What title you gained?

I won a lot, many titles, I won my first belt at the age of 15 in 1986, champion’s belt of the South – of 60 kg, then I gained the belt of the stadium Lumpinee of – 63 kg in 1989 against Pothai Chorvikun, in 1991 world champion WMTC’s belt of – 67 kg against French, in 1994 champion’s belt of the Radja – 63 kg against Sittisak Toranusron, in 1995 champion’s belt of the Radja – 67 kg against Vichan Chorrotchai, in 1996 world champion WMTA’s belt of – 69 kg against Ramon Dekkers, in 1998 world champion’s belt of Kickboxing WKA against Eval Denton, and the belt ISKA of – 67 kg against Caldera, in 2000 I gained three world champion’s belts – 70 kg the WMC, the WPKL and the WKN, in 2001 world champion WKN’s belt of – 72 kg against Jerry Morris, in 2002 the belt ISKA and WPKL – 70 KG, in 2003 the belt ISKA of – 70 kg and in 2004 world champion WMC’s belt of – 72 kg against Wanlop Sitpholek! 

RADJA CHAMPION!

You beat a French champion in 1991 for a world belt?

Yes but I don’t remember any more his name, the fight was in Macao…

How much have you make of fights, how much have you of victory and defeat?

I have make 360 fights for 330 victories, 28 defeats and 2 draws!

You gained a lot of fight by KO?

I gained 76 victories by KO!

You had which style of boxing?

My style was complete, I was also strong with my elbows, my knees and my feet!

What was your technique preferred in fight?

Techniques with elbows, I loved!

What was your hardest fight?

My hardest fight was when I had 16 years old, I took KO and I stayed unconscious several hours…

Your best memory of boxing?

Every time I gained a belt it’s a good memory, but I would say that to have gained the belts of two bigger stadiums of Thailand, the belt of the stadium Lumpinee and the belt of the stadium Radja it’s my biggest pride!

What are the known fighters that you faced?

Wanlop, Sittisak, Vichan, Pothai, Petmai, Sakmongkol, Buakaw, Somrak, Saimai, Nokweed, Dekkers, Hippolyte…

You fought a lot abroad?

Yes I have make more than 30 fights abroad, I fought in Holland, in France, in England, in the United States, in Germany, in Sweden, in Finland, in Italy, in Australia, almost everywhere!
I also lived several years in Finland…

You met many foreign fighters, against which one you had most difficulty?

It’s against the Dutch Ivan Hippolyte, he was very strong, he beat me by Technical Knock-out in third rounds in a fight in the USA in 1990 but I took my revenge two years later by beating him in points…

You know French boxers?
Yes I know many French boxers but I could not tell you names…

What is according to you the best foreign fighter in Muay Thai, before and today?

I think that the French fighters are among the best foreign fighters, they are very hardly!

And the best Thai fighter today, it’s who for you?

Both better current for me are Petchboonchu and Yodvicha!

You made well your living thanks to Muay Thai?

Yes I gained good purses which allowed me to have a life much better…

What was your promoter when you fought?

My promoter in Thailand was Tunkeapet but I had several promoters…

You gained good purses in the time?

My biggest purses in Thailand in the time were 200 000 bahts!

After your boxer’s career what you have make?

I was a trainer in several camps then I opened my own camp which is to Phuket, Jomhod Muaythai Gym, there are moreover French boxers who come to train for it!

You put back gloves in more than 40 years, it was in 2012?

Yes I have make a fight against Somrak for Lumpinee which I gained, then we made the revenge in 2013 for Radja and I lost in points but I never have really to stop the boxing, I often fought to Phuket, even now…

Jomhod was nicknamed « The King of the Ring », this great champion had a power of devastating strike, he has to bring down many of his opponents thanks to his lumberjack’s low kicks and his magnificent techniques of pokes!

Jomhod makes his first fight important to Bangkok in the stadium TV7 where he beats formidable Petmai Jocky Gym. At the age of only 18 years he takes away the belt of Lumpinee – 63 kg in front of Pothai Chorvikun. At the age of 23, he faces Sittisak Toranusron in the stadium TV7 for the belt of the stadium of Radja – 63 kg. In 1995, at the age of 24, he beats for the belt of Radja of – 67 kg, the big champion Vichan Chorrotchai who was a champion of the Radja and the Lumpinee, next year in the King’s Birthday, he beats terrible Ramon Dekkers for the title of champion of the World WMTA. Then, Jomhod is going to plunder the boxing rings of the whole world and to make a clean sweep, 12 titles of champion of the World, a record!
