PANOMTUANGLEK HA PALANG: I’m doing great, thank you!

How old are you?

I’m 49 years old

You come of what region of the Thailand?

I’m of Maha Sarakham in the Northeast region of the Thailand

What is that you are married, do you have children?

Yes I’m married and I have three children

You have brothers and sisters?

We were five children in the family

You had brothers who also fought?

No, they did not like too much the boxing…

You began the boxing at which age?

I began the boxing at the age of 9

You fought at once?

Yes in 9 years and I won my first fight at points

How you discovered the boxing?

I looked at boxing matches at the TV with my father

In what camp you began your formation?

It’s at first my uncle who trained me at home, then I went to the camp Sor Popitak

Towards what age you left to Bangkok?

In 16 years I went to the camp Sor Sirinan (Ha Palang camp)

You stayed for a long time in this camp?

Yes practically all my career

In what category you fought?

I have make my first fights in Bangkok in the category 100 lbs, then in 115 lbs, 118 lbs and I ended my career in 122 lbs

What are the titles which you gained?

I gained three belts, two of the stadium of Radja and one of the stadium of Lumpinee. I beat Teesout Sor Djitpatana for the belt of Radja in 115 lbs, Jompathong Nor Nanontachaï for the belt of Radja in 118 lbs and Phetdam Lukprabat for the belt of Lumpinee in 122 lbs. It was in 1986.

You took away three belts the same year?

Yes year 1986 was a big year for me!

In what stadium you most fought?

I fought a lot in two big stadiums, Lumpinee and Radja

I have make 180 fights with 165 victories, 14 defeats and one draw

You had which style of boxing?

I was a fighter strong in knees and who liked moving forward on the opponent

Which was your technique preferred in fight?

The blows of knees

What was your hardest fight?

My fight against Samart Payakaroon in 1987 in Lumpinee, I took hard KO against him…

Your best memory of boxing?

It’s to have beaten Teesout Sor Djitpatana for the belt of Radja because Teesout was a great champion in the time!

What are the known Thai fighters that you faced?

There was a lot, Jompathong, Samransak, Nampon, Kongtoranee, Manasak, Phetdam, Bounam, Samart, Khunpol, Kongnapa, Jongrak, Wangchanoi, Rainbow, Jaroentong…

No, I have never had the opportunity…

What is according to you the best foreign fighter today and in your time?

I cannot tell you, I don’t know enough the foreign fighters but in my time the most known was Ramon Dekkers

And now the best Thai fighter, it’s who according to you?

I don’t know, there are many fighters in Thailand…

Do you know French boxers?

I knew Guillaume (Kerner) because he stayed longtime in my camp

I gained very good purses, my most important purse was 240,000 baht

Today you have become a trainer?

Yes I was first trainer in Thailand to Pichitman camp. Then I left Japan

It makes how long that you are a trainer in Japan?

It makes 12 years

You are in the same gym as your former partner of training Chamophet?

No, he’s a trainer in another gym in Japan

What’s the name of the gym where you give the lessons?

Sidoukan which belongs to Saitama, it’s near Tokyo

Yes in Pathum Thani and I go every year
