PHET UTONG: I’m very well thank you

How old are you ?

I’m 22 years old

You come from what region of Thailand?

I’m from the village of Huay Raj near Buriram (Northeast region)

Are you married ?

Yes I’m married and I have a son

You have brothers and sisters ?

I have a brother

Your brother is a boxer too?

Yes my brother is also a fighter

You started boxing at what age?

I started at 6 years

At what age did you make your first fight?

At the age of 6 I made my first fight which was a defeat at the points

I won the sum of 150 baht

How did you discover boxing?

My father was a former boxer he was the one who taught me Muay Thai and my uncle was a very great champion, his fighter name was Fasuchon Sit O (3 times Thailand champion, Lumpinee champion)

In which camp did you start your formation?

I started boxing in Sor Thaveekit camp in the Buriram area, the camp belonged to my father

You did a lot of fighting for this camp?

I made about a hundred fights for this camp

How old were you in Bangkok?

At the age of 14 I joined the camp Sor Sommai in Bangkok

I like all the techniques of Muay Thai, I’m pretty complete

What was your hardest fight until today?

My fight against Thanonchai in 2015 in the stadium of Radja, I lost by KO

Your best memory of combat?

When I won my Radja belt in 2016, I beat a Superlek which is a great champion!

What were the known fighters you met?

There are many, Luknimit, Mongkolchai, Phetmorakot, Superbank, Superlek, Phanpayak, Thanonchai, Saen, Sangmanee, Kaonar, Kaimookkao, Muangthai, Bangpleenoi…

Have you ever fought abroad?

No I have never fought abroad

Would you like to come and fight in Europe?

Yes of course in England, France, Italy, no problem!

Do you know French fighters?

Not really

What is the best foreign boxer for you?

I find the fighter Antoine Pinto of the Thai Fight very strong

What do you think is the best Thai fighter currently?

I do not know because there are many good fighters in Thailand but for me the best was Samart Payakaroon!

For what promoter do you fight?

For Mr Sommai Sakulmetta (Promoter of the Radja stadium and owner of the Sor Sommai camp)

My purse in Thailand is between 100,000 and 180,000 baht

You live well through boxing?

I start making money but not yet enough, I was able to buy a house but not yet a car…

What do you think you do after boxing?

I would like to open a bar or restaurant near my home in my native region

Would you like to have your boxing camp?

Yes if I have the chance to win a lot of money

When is your next fight?

October 5th at the Radja stadium against Kaonar PK Saenchai Gym

Have you ever faced this opponent?

Yes we met several times, I won and he beat me too. For our last fight, in June 2017, in the stadium of Radja, he beat me at points…

In April 2017, Phet Utong was voted “Best Boxer of the Year 2016” by the prestigious “Sport Writers Association of Thailand”.

PHET UTONG ELECTED “BEST BOXER OF THE YEAR 2016”

The judges considered that Phet Utong deserved the supreme trophy of “Best boxer of the year” thanks to a succession of beautiful victories on the best current champions of his category that are Saen Parunchai, Bangpleenoi 96 Peenang, Kaewkangwan Prewayo, Superlek Kiatmuu 9, Kaimukkao Por Thairungruangkamai and Phanpayak Jitmuangnon.

On April 29, 2016, in the Lumpinee stadium, Phet Utong defeated Saen Parunchai (Lumpinee Champion) in the third round by knockout with a beautiful right poke followed by a right jaw uppercut.

VICTORY BY KO OF PHET UTONG ON SAEN PARUNCHAI

At the Radja Stadium on July 18, 2016, he defeated Bangpleenoi 96 Peenang (Thailand Champion, WMC World Champion).

On 29 September 2016, at the Radja stadium, he beat by the stop of referee in the fourth round Kaewkangwan Prewayo (Lumpinee champion, Thailand champion, winner of the CP Fresh Mart tournament).

On December 22nd, 2016, in the stadium of Radja, Phet Utong faced the great star Superlek Kiatmuu 9 (Twice Lumpinee Champion, three times Thailand champion, “Best boxer of the year” in 2012, price received by the Authority of the Sports of Thailand) for the belt of Radja in 130 lbs, Phet Utong won the fight at points and took away the title of champion of Radja in 130 lbs. Phet Utong had already beaten Superlek in October, 2014 in the stadium of Lumpinee (Stop on wound) and in the stadium of Radja in July, 2015 (Win on points).

On February 2, 2017, at the Radja Stadium, Phet Utong beat by KO with a beautiful poke Kaimukkao Por Thairungruangkamai (Radja Champion, WBC World Champion) in the second round.

And on March 2nd, 2017, in the stadium of Radja, Phet Utong gained a magnificent victory on the star Phanpayak Jitmuangnon (Lumpinee Champion in 126 lbs and 118 lbs, Radja champion in 108 lbs and 105 lbs, Best boxer of the year in 2013, 2014 and 2015 by The Sport Writers Association of Thailand). In the first round, Phet Utong electrocuted Phanpayak with a terrible right hook, he won a 10 000-baht bonus for this lightning KO. Phet Utong is one of the rare fighters to have beaten by KO the phenomenal Phanpayak Jitmuangnon!

Phet Utong arises from boxer’s family, his father lieutenant-colonel Thawatchai Nuankaew is a former fighter who was called Thaveekit Sit O. In the family Nuankaew, they were five brothers who were all professional boxers and who fought for the famous camp Sit O to Buriram, Thaveekit Sit O, Somkiet Sit O, Fasanan Sit O, Fakanong Sit O and the youngest the immense champion Fasuchon Sit O.

Fasuchon is the most known for brothers Nuankaew. Fasuchon was a formidable technician who used marvelously his techniques of legs, his legendary front kick gave him the nickname of “Jomtip Sayfa” (The push of the flash of lightning).

In 2000, Fasuchon was elected ” Best fighter of the year ” by The Sport Writers Association of Thailand after gained at the stadium of Lumpinee 8 victories on 10 matches and having taken away the belt of Thailand in 112 lbs against Petchtapee Por Singthai. Fasuchon was a Thailand champion in 112 lbs, in 115 lbs and in 118 lbs, Lumpinee champion in 118 lbs, he made during his career 500 fights for 390 victories!

THE LEGENDARY FASUCHON SIT O

On July 16th, 2014, the young boy Phet Utong knew a misadventure which would have been able to cost him dearly. With his companion of training Seksun, they had to fight in the stadium of Radja. But the morning, during the weighing, both boxers very felt sick, especially Phet Utong who must be evacuated in wheelchair, both boxers were driven to emergencies at the hospital. Phet Utong and Seksun were a victim of a poisoning. After several examinations, that very day, they went out of the hospital. In the evening of the event, they rose on the boxing ring to apologize for not having been able to fight…

In 2015

In February, at Radja stadium, he beat Thaksinlek Kiatniwat.

In March, in Radja stadium, Phet Utong lost to the points against the star Sangmanee Sor Tianpo (Best boxer of the year 2012).

In May, at Radja Stadium, he beats Thaksinlek Kiatniwat again.

In June, at Radja stadium, he lost again against Sangmanee Sor Tianpo.

In July, in Radja stadium, in main event, he beats once again Superlek Kiatmuu9 but at points (Phet Utong beat Superlek in 2014 by stop on injury).

In August, at Radja stadium, he beat by KO in the fourth round Samingdej Dekfaifa.

In September, at Radja stadium, he lost by points against Thanonchai Poptheeratham.

In October, at Radja stadium, he lost by knockout against Muangthai PK Saenchai.

In November, in Radja stadium, he loses by KO the revenge against Thanonchai Poptheeratham.

In 2016

In January, in Radja stadium, in main event, he loses against Phanpayak Sitjatik.

On March 10, in Radja stadium, in main event, he takes his revenge by defeating Phanpayak Sitjatik.

On April 29, at Lumpinee stadium, he beat by KO Saen Parunchai.

On 18 July, at Radja stadium, he beat Bangpleenoi 96 Peenang by points.

On September 29, at Radja stadium, he beat by referee’s stoppage in the fourth round Kaewkangwan Prewayo.

On December 22, at Radja stadium, Phet Utong defeated super star Superlek Kiatmuu 9 and won the Radja belt in 130 lbs.

In 2017

On February 2, at Radja stadium, Phet Utong beat by KO Kaimukkao Por Thairungruangkamai in the second round.

On March 2, at Radja stadium, Phet Utong beat by KO in the first round the star Phanpayak Jitmuangnon.

On April 6, at Radja Stadium, he lost by points against Phanpayak Jitmuangnon.

On May 25, at Radja stadium, Phet Utong was knocked hard in the third round by Phanpayak Sitjatik.

On June 28, at Radja stadium, he lost to points against Kaonar PK Saenchai Gym.

On August 7, at Radja Stadium, Phet Utong beat Theppabuth Sit Ubon.
