THE CAMP JITMUANGNON

Special report by Serge TREFEU (2014)

Jitmuangnon is at present one of the biggest camps of Bangkok with around thirty fighters of whom about ten tops level which bring regularly good results!

The camp belongs to Nonthaburi, a city adjoining the capital, in the North of Bangkok. Jitmuangnon is not far from the temple Wat Kampaeng in the district of Rim Suan.

The camp was created in 2000 by Mr. Somdjit Whenkaew who is today a big promoter of the stadium of Radja.

SOMDJIT WHENKAEW!

At first, Somdjit conceived his camp to help the children who arise from poor families. Besides the practice of the boxing, the children of the camp are encouraged to make long studies, it’s the camp which takes care of school fees. It’s for it that the majority of the boxers of the camp are very young, they have a lot of merit because they train very hard and manage all the same to follow a normal schooling. The conditions of life are rough for these children because they live almost as monks, they practically have no entertainment, just the school to find their classmate. Then, it’s training, training, and in the evening they sleep all in the same room, the big dormitory which contains about fifteen beds, the older champions are in the other rooms…

THE BOXERS OF JITMUANGNON ARE STUDENTS SERIOUS BOTH TO TRAINING THAN THE SCHOOL!

Jitmuangnon is a camp old school where the children are taken care from the age of 7/8 years, most come from the region Isaan (Northeast), they are formed until become champions towards the age of 15/16 years, as the star of the camp Phanpayak who is practically a pure product of Jitmuangnon Gym!

The owner of the camp also possesses a small stadium, Jitmuangnon Stadium called also Or Tor Kor 3 stadium because he’s in the big market of Nonthaburi, the “Or Tor Kor Market 3 ” on the main avenue Liang Muang Nonthaburi Road. The boxers of the Jitmuangnon often fight in this small local stadium!
