THE TROPHIES OF MUAY THAI IN THAILAND

In Thailand, every year, many trophies are awarded to the actors of the world of the muay thai, the boxers, the trainers, the promoters, the training camps, receive a prize for the rewarded of them good results which they produced all year round. His prizes are generally present by Thai sports institutions, magazines specialized as « award Siamkila » of the magazine Siam Sport Siam Kila, « award Muay Tuu » of the magazine Muay Tuu, the federations such « WBC Muay Thai awards » of the federation WBC or still by stadiums as « award lumpinee » and « award TV7 », given by the stadiums of Lumpinee and TV7…

But trophies the most known and the most renowned are given by « The Sports Authority of Thailand » and « The Sport Writers Association of Thailand »
The Sports Authority of Thailand is an institution which exists since 1964, the head office is in Bangkok in 286 Ramkhamhaeng road, Huamark, Bangkapi.

 

THE SPORTS AUTHORITY OF THAILAND


 

The Sports Authority of Thailand, for the Thai boxing, give the prize of the «  Best boxer of the year », and also sometimes of the « Best trainer of the year » and of the « Best camp of the year ».

The Sports Authority of Thailand votes every year for rewarded for all the Thai athletes some is their sport. They award the prize of the best boxer in Muay Thai (Superlek Wor Sangprapai “Best boxer of year 2012”), the prize of the best male and feminine boxer in Boxing, the prize of the best tennis player, the prize of the best badminton player etc….

In the world of Muay Thai, the most prestigious institution it is The Sport Writers Association of Thailand which give every year the honorary awards.
This company which gathers journalists and sportive correspondents of magazines specialized sports of which Muay Thai is in Bangkok in the building of Thephasadin The National Stadium, Staked 1 Road, Wangmai Pathumwan.

Every year, « awards » are celebrated in a luxurious place of Bangkok, often in the “Miracle Grand Hotel”. This big annual evening gather the best Thai sportsmen of moment to receive each a trophy, a trophy precious and recognized in the world of the sport!
« 
Awards of The Sport Writers Association of Thailand » is little for Thai, « Oscars » version sport, a party for the big family of the Thai sport!
It is also the opportunity to the numerous leading players of the world of the boxing to find itself…

 

THE BIG FAMILY OF THE THAI BOXING PRESENTS FOR THE AWARDS 2008

 

Several prizes are present during year in Thailand as that of the « Best fight of the year » (Pornsanae Sitmonchai vs Pakorn Sakyothin in 2010), of the « Best fighter in the stadium of Lumpinee of the year » (Lekkla Tanasuranakorn in 2009), of the « Best fighter in the stadium of Radja of the year » (Kaimukkao Chuwattana in 2011), of the « Best fighter in the stadium TV7 of the year » (Naruenart Siangsimewgym in 2009), of the « Best up and coming muaythai camp » (Sitsongpeenong Gym in 2009)…

The Sport Writers Association of Thailand gives several important prizes in boxing such as the « Best muaythai boxer fighting overseas of the year » (Buakaw Por Pramuk in 2010 and 2012), the « Best promoter of the year » (Chun Kietpetch in 2012) or the prize of the « Best trainer of the year » (Pelé Kiatsongrit in 2011, trainer of the camp Sitboonmee)!

Some time the other exceptional awards are also awarded, as for example the legend Apidej Sit Hirun (Died in April, 2013, RIP) who received the prize of the « Best fighter of the century » by His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej.

So, the great champion Sompong Charoenmuang received the trophy of the « Cup of King » by His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej!

Or still the great Dutch champion Ramon Dekkers (Died in March, 2013, RIP) who saw itself awarded the prize of the « Best foreign fighter in Thailand », Dekkers remains this day the only foreign fighter to have received such a distinction!

The boxing is also put in the honor with prizes for the former glories of boxing rings and the current champions…

 

AWARDS 2006

MANAD BOONJAMNONG (BEST FIGHTER AMATEUR BOXING 2006, GOLD MEDAL JO 2004), KHAOSAY GALAXY (BEST CAREER OF FIGHTING PROFESSIONAL IN BOXING), PONGSAKLEK WONJONGKAM (BEST PROFESSIONAL FIGHTER OF BOXING OF YEAR 2006), NORASING LOOKBANYAI (BEST MUAYTHAI FIGHTER OF THE YEAR 2006)

 

But both prizes, the most waited, which brings a big credibility in the world of Muay Thai, are the prize of the « Best camp of the year » awarded by The Sports Authority of Thailand and the prize of the « Best fighter of the year »  awarded by The Sport Writers Association of Thailand,!
This title of « Best camp of the year » is based on the whole of good results produced by several fighters of the camp, their number of victories, the quality of the opponents which they overcame, the titles that they gained, all his criteria allow to choose at first ten camps among hundreds which is in the country. After this first selection, the judges choose between ten best camps the final candidate who takes away the trophy!

This trophy is often gained by great camps situated in the capital. In 2002, it is the first time when this honorary title is awarded to two camps of province. The camp « Kiatmuu 9 » (Camp of Singdam), in the region of Buriram and the « Por Pramuk » (Camp of Buakaw) in the region of Chachoengsao share the trophy of the best camp of year 2002…

In 2003, on the other hand, the prize is awarded to a very great camp of Bangkok, « Keawsamrit » (Camp of Anuwat). Year 2004, trophy is given to the camp « Seangmorakot » (Camp of Pinsiam). The camp « Lookbanyai » (Camp of Norasing) swipe then the prize for two years in succession, in 2005 and in 2006.

In 2007, it is again the camp of province that is put in the honor, the camp « Lookprabat » (Camp of Pajonsuk) in the region of Saraburi, Lookprabat is elected best camp two years in succession, in 2007 and in 2008.

2009 is the year of the camp « Wor Wiwatananon » (Camp of Rungphet), in Bangkok, which receives the precious trophy. In 2010, it is the camp « Sakchaichote » (Camp of Lamnamoon) which wins the prize. For year 2011, the prize is still shared between two big camps of Bangkok, the camp « Rachanon » (Camp of F16) and the camp « Kaiyanghadaogym » (Sit Or camp of Nong O).

In 2012, the champion Nong O joined the Petchyindee Academy camp where the star Sam-A already trained, thanks to the good results of his two stars, the camp « Petchyindee Academy » received the trophy of the « Best camp of year 2012 »!

 

THE LOOKPRABAT CAMP RECEIVED NUMEROUS AWARDS OF WHICH THAT OF « BEST CAMP OF THE YEAR » IN 2007 AND 2008!

 

The trophy of the « Best fighter of the year » is doubtless the most illustrious prize which a fighter can receive in his career of nakmuay, a sensational award which values him for ever!
This ultimate award is awarded since the 70s and most of the boxers who received him were immense champions. And some even returned in pantheons of the legends of boxing rings by winning this prize several times as Kongthoranee Payakaroon (1978, 1984), Samart Payakaroon (1981, 1983, 1988), Kaensak Sor Ploenchit (1989, 1990), Saenchai Sor Kingstar (1999, 2008) and Anuwat Kaewsamrit (2003, 2004)!

In 2012, for the first time in the story, the prize is shared between two boxers, two 16-year-old whiz kids, Yodwicha Por Boonsit and Sangmanee Sor Tienpho!
For the judges it been difficult of them decided because during year they took away each of the very good results. All the judges thus considered that for year 2012 his two champions deserved to gain the trophy!

Sangmanee, in 2012, on 12 fights in the year, lost only twice. He beat, in Lumpinee, champions such as Phet Aikbangzai, Prajanchay Por Phetnamtong, Phet Lukmakhamwan, in Radja, Kanongsuek Sor Sritong, Dedkad Por Pongsawan (twice), Nikhomlek Tor Tawat, Ruengsak Sitniwat (KO), Kudsakornnoi Sor Junlasen, in stadium of Omnoi, Phet Lukmakhamwan, he lost, in the stadium of Omnoi, against Nikhomlek Tor Tawat, and in Lumpinee against Superlek Wor Sangprapai for the belt of Lumpinee in 115 lbs, he took away the belt of Lumpinee in 105 lbs against Phet Lukmakhamwan, the belt of the radja in 108 lbs against Dedkad Por Pongsawan, world champion’s belt S1 in 110 lbs against Kudsakornnoi Sor Junlasen and the belt of the radja in 112 lbs against Prajanchay Por Phetnamtong!

Yodvicha, in 2012, on 9 fights in the year, he gained 5, in Lumpinee, he beat great champions as Petawee Sor Kitichai, Senkeng Jor Noparath, Kongsak Sitboonmee, Nong O Kayanghaadao, in Radja, he beat Looknimit Singklongsi, he made two draws, in Lumpinee, against Singthongnoi Por Telakun, in Radja, against Pakorn Sakyotin, he lost, in Radja, against Seksun Or Kwanmuang and Kongsak Sitboonmee, he gained the belt of Lumpinee in 130 lbs against Kongsak Sitboonmee and he had already gained previously the belt of Omnoi in 126 lbs!
