Another historic event then took place in the stadium of Lumpinee. September 25, 2021. A Thai champion challenged a foreign champion in the stadium of Lumpinee.
The first foreign boxer who had the honor to fight in the stadium of Lumpinee was the warrior of the rings, the French Souris Manfredi (World champion of Lethwei, European champion of Muay Thai).

This formidable fighter who lives in Thailand met the Thai Oomsin Sritong.
Souris Manfredi was first to face Thailand’s Dangkongfah Jaosurnoi in July 2021 for the Lumpinee title and the WBC world title. The fight was postponed to September.
Her opponent was changed, the French had to meet Petchkanya Por Puangthong for the WBC world title in 112 lbs. The Lumpinee title was no longer at game.
Finally, her opponent was replaced at the last moment and it was the Thai Oomsin Sritong in place of the champion Petchkanya.
The WBC world title was normally scheduled for this match. But due to a contract problem with the WBC federation, the world title could not be contested by the two fighters. The fight for the world title is set to officially take place on October 31, 2021.
Due to government restrictions, the fight in the stadium of Lumpinee took place in a studio without an audience. The match was broadcast on Lumpinee Go Sport World Muay Thai TV channel, the promotion of Mr. Sittirut Sathien Jarupongsa, the new important promoter of the stadium of Lumpinee.
Souris Manfredi had a magnificent fight, dominating Thailand’s Oomsin. She won her match on points.
After being the first fighter woman to win the title of world champion in ‘Lethwei’ style (Burmese Boxing) on August 28, 2020, in Burma, she writes history again by being the first foreigner woman to fight in the mythical stadium of Bangkok!
